About the Role

We’re looking for a Agile Trading Merchandiser to join our Souricng team here at Matalan Head Office. As an Agile Trading Merchandiser you will act as a conduit between Trading, sourcing and suppliers to manage factory capacity and raw material commitment, working across all divisions managing, all key milestones within the critical path and providing accurate information to suppliers  to ensure all dates are adhered to for the Agile Trading program.
You will be responsible for the planning, management and utilisation of Greige fabrics and Production Capacity at company level for agile suppliers, agreeing trigger dates for key decisions, understanding the needs and timings required to make changes within the plan.

  • Sharing relevant information with the agile suppliers on a weekly basis to allow for proactive, collaborative planning and action.
  • Measuring and reporting on Agile supplier performance including delivery performance and product hit rate, as well as outlining future growth plans.
  • Responsible for maintaining the critical path and using in depth production knowledge as well as great problem-solving skills to facilitate the rectification of any risk to delivery dates.

  • Communicate effectively building strong collaborative relationships with colleagues across the business, as well as with key external parties to consistently deliver in line with the strategic plans.
  • Drive actions to optimise the customer offer ensuring the right product is in the right place at the right time.

About You

  • Strong merchandising background, having worked at a supplier as a merchandiser would be beneficial.
  • Strong understanding of key dates within the buying calendar and how they link to the product lifecycle to allow the right business decisions to be made.  
  • Experienced within end to end critical path management, from production plans to delivery and beyond, including product approval processes.
  • Understanding and appreciation of apparel manufacturing and production processes.
  • Numerical, analytical and methodical in approach, good at managing complexity.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Tenacious, collaborative with good influencing skills.
  • Proactive and flexible approach.
  • Excellent organisation and planning skills as well as the proven ability to prioritise multiple tasks whilst maintaining attention to detail and accuracy in a fast paced and changing environment.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint & Word.
  • Drive your own development delivering on both business and personal objectives.
  • Act as a role model and lead the way in forward thinking.
