About the Role

We’re looking for a Catergory Manager to join our eCommerce trading team here at Matalan Head Office.

As an eCommerce Trader/Catergory Manager you will assist the Head of eCommerce Trading in the delivery of the eCommerce business trading strategy and strive towards hitting all KPIs.  You will take ownership of eCommerce trade planning, ensuring all key customer moments are well covered and executed consistently.

  • Take ownership and work collaboratively with the B&M teams to create the online optimum range to maximise sales and profit.
  • Analyse department and total eCommerce performance and identify opportunities to optimise and reduce markdown risks.
  • Manage and develop the eCommerce Trading Team.
  • Work closely with the Digital Marketing team to explore trading and ranging opportunities, both internally and externally.
  • Work closely with the B&M teams to plan online trading activity, range launches and key product themes, ensuring they are executed across all channels by co-ordinating and maintaining the digital trading calendar.
  • Work closely with the wider Marketing team to ensure that all creative is up to date and relevant.
  • Attend key marketing activity meetings and reflect online.
  • Review competitor activity and analyse trends to ensure we are relevant within the marketplace, and produce a monthly summary pack with actionable content.
  • Review key lines and best selling products to ensure opportunity is maximised and products have a good visibility throughout the website.
  • Work closely with the B&M teams and stock placement to ensure eCommerce has the correct forward commitment of stock to hit sales plans.
  • Manage promotions ensuring they are launched in-line with go live dates as well as present on the site and across all channels if needed.
  • Analyse eCommerce KPI metrics to maximise sales opportunities.
  • Complete ad-hoc reports and tasks in line with business and department requirements.
  • .Work closely with the DC, providing daily forecasted volume across all key metrics.
  • Work closely with Buying, Merchandising, Sourcing and the DC to look at ways of improving how eCommerce product is coming into the business and flowing through the operation.
  • Deliver measurable improvements to the customer journey, sharing results and sales improvements with line manager and team.
