About the Role

We're looking for a Retail Profit Protection Data Analyst to join our Business Risk Team here at Matalan, you'll be based from our Head Office here in Liverpool. 

In the role you will support the Business Objective and Loss Reduction Strategy by providing analytical analysis of business systems that have a primary function in the identification and/or the prevention of loss associated by poor compliance or dishonesty.

  • Develop and maintain reports within available systems (IntelliQ/RMS/BI/RFID etc) to highlight exceptions or identify patterns that result in loss.
  • Analyse data within IntelliQ/BI/RFID & other systems to challenge non-compliance to current systems & process (Refunds/Discount etc.)
  • Identify from the data, trends, patterns and provide insights in order to reduce fraud both in store and on-line
  • On-line Fraud Solution – manage outputs, interfacing into our Ecommerce Central Team where appropriate to advise of issues, risks and trends
  • Apply Continuous Improvement methodology to existing suite of reports to help identify fraud
  • Translate the data into simplistic language, building comprehensive case files that the operational field team can easily understand and action/implement to a successful conclusion.
  • Work with the operational field team to coach, communicate and advise in order to bring internal cases to a successful conclusion, reducing time and the likelihood of appeal.
  • Develop and maintain excellent internal stakeholder relationships to ensure that CCTV evidence to support findings is secured in a timely manner to bring investigations to a successful conclusion.
  • Support the deployment of contracted security resource by identifying trends in store/cluster incidents associated with Anti Social Behaviour or External Theft.
  • Process and engage with Civil Recovery partners to ensure that actions from criminal activity, both internal & external are presented in a timely manner to maximise return
  • Communicate and demonstrate to all business partners the effectiveness, capabilities and results delivered from systems.
  • Keep “up to date” with industry colleagues in external forums/partnerships
  • Use expertise and knowledge to coach/educate store colleagues on Best Practice associated with retail loss.

About You

  • Previous Profit Protection experience within a Retail Profit Protection environment.
  • Experience of Intelliq / BI or other data systems
  • Excellent communication skills - articulate and can communicate with all levels.
  • Actively contribute to the strategic departmental business plan and co coordinate reactive plans for the team.
  • Personally effective, ensuring that all available resources are utilised
  • Flexible approach to working in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to work in a team and also under own initiative.
  • Commercially astute.
  • Good understanding and knowledge of Company Process and Procedures.
  • Excellent use of Microsoft Office.
  • WZ Trained – would be an advantage.
  • Good analytical and data interpretation ability.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – Team Player
  • Good presentation skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills – both logical and analytical.
