As our Ethical Compliance Officer, you’ll be responsible for implementing the Matalan Ethical Compliance Policy for all suppliers, factories and third parties, ensuring the delivery of key priorities and maintaining Matalan’s standards across the supply base.

The Role

You’ll regularly monitor ethical standards across all suppliers, factories and subcontractors within the supply base by assessing annual 3rd party audits to ensure they are maintained with integrity and monitoring the resolution of any compliance issues highlighted in audit reports, driving continuous quality improvement.

Working alongside our Ethical Compliance Manager & approved audit companies, you’ll keep up to date with legal developments to improve and maintain Matalan’s supply chain, informing the appropriate teams regarding any changes to legislation or processes.

Responsible for implementing the Matalan factory approval process, ensuring that factories are approved in a timely manner and working with our Suppliers on subsequent Corrective Action Plans to remediate any safety issues, escalating any failures when necessary.

About You

To find the best people for our Ethical team, we’d like you to have the following....

  • Proven experience within a similar Ethical or Compliance role
  • Experience within the fashion and/or homeware industry would be advantageous
  • High, consistent attention to detail, always striving to deliver good quality work to key deadlines
  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels across the business
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with customers and stakeholders
  • Excellent organisational skills
