About the Role

We are currently looking for a Contracts Manager to join the IT team here at Matalan Head Office.  As an IT Contracts Manager you will lead the contractual and commercial discussions with IT suppliers which will also include managing their performance and ensuring Matalan has the right relationships with its IT providers. 

You will be responsible for creating and managing the drafting and structure of IT contracts using Matalan’s standard terms as a template. Reviewing and defining any changes to ensure fit for purpose and leading those negotiations for supplier contracts.

  • Accountable for monitoring the performance of SLAs and adherence to the contract of each of the vendors. Reviewing and adapting when required to ensure contracts are fit for purpose and continue to drive the quality and value we seek. Lead any performance meetings.
  • Ensure all non Matalan contracts comply with company standards and policies
  • Lead the negotiations  of commercial proposals for contract renewals in line with agreed budgets
  • Lead the negotiations of commercial proposals for new supplier contracts, influencing where required to ensure they reflect the set standards to drive quality and value
  • Responsible for the vendor relationship management for critical and strategic suppliers
  • Responsible for escalating IT issues with IT service providers in conjunction with the Service Management team
  • Advise business sponsors of procurement and commercial best practices
  • Manage key sourcing activities including the creation of the RFP through to and including vendor selection
  • Support the on-boarding process of new suppliers
  • Work with the Vendor manager to plan and prioritise activities to ensure the efficient delivery of the business objectives
  • Work with stakeholders and Project teams, understand business needs in order to identify appropriate supplier(s) and terms to ensure project delivery
  • Maintain and develop commercial knowledge to keep up to date with external regulatory standards and changes
  • Work to deliver cost savings at all opportunities
  • Identify opportunities to improve commercial performance and provide relevant insight to senior leadership
  • Assist the Vendor Manager in delivering the contract governance strategy and where appropriate  demonstrating and implementing improvements
  • Responsible for managing a portfolio of commercial and contractual negotiations at anyone time without supervision, adapting plans to address any operational challenges.

About You

  • Experience gained in a fast paced retail environment working with strategic IT partners
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with 3rd party suppliers
  • A good understanding of Hardware, Software and Cloud service contracts
  • Strong negotiation skills and commercially astute
  • Prioritising and planning skills to organise an prioritise workload and tight deadlines
  • Understanding of the ITIL Principles and Project Management methodologies
